Desde hace un tiempo he estado pensando en lo que construye la memoria histórica, y cómo la recordamos o entendemos. Y cómo las diferentes memorias, o maneras de recordar, se pueden aceptar, entrelazar, contrastar, contradecir, e inclusive negar. Éstas se han venido construyendo y estableciendo en imágenes, a través de archivos, documentos y testimonios. // For quite a while I have been been thinking about that which constructs historic memory, and how we remember it or understand it. And how different memories, or ways of remembering, can accept each other, interlace, contrast each other, contradict each other, or even negate each other. These ideas have been building and establishing themselves in images, through archives, documents, and testimonies.
Aunque las imágenes son fijas, éstas pueden cambiar no sólo la percepción individual, sino la histórica. Me interesa investigar cómo se construyen las imágenes históricas, enunciadas desde lo oficial así como lo civil; y las estrategias de creación, producción, circulación y reproducción de las mismas, para distintos propósitos socio-políticos. // Although these images are fixed, they can change not only individual perception, but also the historical one. I am interested in investigating how these historic images are constructed, articulated from both an official and civil perspective; while examining the strategies of creation, production, circulation and reproduction of these images, for different socio-political aims.
Las imágenes ya existentes, son un detonante fundamental en mi trabajo y a partir de ellas me interesa revisar y revisitar el pasado, para intentar entenderlo y/o especular a partir de sus vacíos. Experimento distintas formas de reinterpretación, a través del borrado o reconfiguración de la imagen. // The images that already exist, are a fundamental trigger for my work and from them I am interested in revising and revisiting the past, attempting to understand and/or speculate on what is missing. I experiment with different forms of reinterpretation, through erasing or reconfiguring the image.
